Lockheed CL-423 P2V-7 Troop Transport

Another great article from “Fatz”. This time on the proposed Lockheed CL-423 P2V-7 troop transport conversion.

The McDonnall Douglas Scale Model Club magazine called Crazed Plastic published several articles by an author named “Fatz”. These articles were on projected Lockheed aircraft that didn’t make the cut. Fatz was a former Lockheed employee who did similar articles for other International Plastic Model Society (IPMS) publications such as “Flying Tiger” and “Dirty Plastic” and West Michigan.

Off the Drawing Board Comments

Crazed Plastic (CP) published several articles by an author named “Fatz”. These articles were on projected Lockheed aircraft that didn’t make the cut. Fatz was a former Lockheed employee who did similar articles for other International Plastic Model Society (IPMS) publications such as “Flying Tiger” and “Dirty Plastic”. I found another article by “Fatz”, this time on the Lockheed CL-1665. (Search on Fatz for more of his articles in the above Search Box). More info is available on the CL-1665 from Secret Projects here.

While this may only be Lockheed’s “Competitive Data Group” department’s study of the YF-17/F-18, it is still very interesting! McAir had a similar department as part of the “Threat Assessment Group”.
