Civilian McDonnell FH-1 Phantom
An interesting article from an Oct/Nov 1964 “Air Progress” article on one of the earliest example of a civilian owned military jet. As this has always been of interest, I am included several photos and color and markings that I have acquired.
McDonnell FH-1, N4283A (111769), was purchased by Progressive Aero of Fort Lauderdale, Florida for use In a jet training school along with two other FH-1's: N4282A. (111768) and the spares aircraft (111761).

10,000 McAir Jets
A special issue of “Team Talk” on the achievement of producing 10,000 jet aircraft!
“Fifty years ago, development began in St. Louis on the FH-1 Phantom, which would earn a place in history as the world’s first carrier-based jet fighter. That first Phantom taxied from the McDonnell Aircraft Company ramp and made its initial flight from the runway at Lambert Airport in January 1945. On Feb. 10, 1993, some 48 years after that flight, MDA marked the delivery of its 10,000th jet aircraft produced at its St. Louis plant. The theme chosen to mark the milestone, “10,000 Jets For Freedom,” reflects the company’s contribution to the ongoing cause of securing peace through strength around the world.”

Tupolev Tu-4
“The Tupolev Tu-4 was a piston-engined Soviet strategic bomber that served the Soviet Air Force from the late 1940s to mid-1960s. It was a reverse-engineered copy of the U.S.-made Boeing B-29 Superfortress.” Wikipedia
A couple more photos from Zdenek Cizinsky’s collection.

Early McAir Aircraft Muffler
Another example of an early McAir aircraft outdoor muffler. This one is from Dec 23, 1952 and shows an F2h-3 Banshee (126326) being backed into position; but before the funneling hardware has been attached.
Another interesting fact about this photo is what is stenciled under the tailplane. “This is an experimental finish, do not apply paint without specific authorization. See log book entry page __” Anyone know anything about this?

Lisunov Li-2
A couple of Li-2’s in Czech air force service from Zdenek Cizinsky’s collection. The second photo is an Lisunov Li-2F No.23443002.
The Lisunov Li-2, originally designated PS-84, was a license-built version of the Douglas DC-3. It was produced by Factory #84 in Moscow-Khimki and, after evacuation in 1941, at TAPO in Tashkent. (Wikipedia)

CF-18 Hornet Rollout Press Packet
News packets were prepared for the press and other media whenever a new aircraft or model was introduced. They can contain photos, fact sheets, descriptions and sometimes booklets. This is one of the CF-18 rollout press folders given out on July 28, 1982. Two really good overhead shots of the CF-18.
