A special issue of “Team Talk” on the achievement of producing 10,000 jet aircraft!
“Fifty years ago, development began in St. Louis on the FH-1 Phantom, which would earn a place in history as the world’s first carrier-based jet fighter. That first Phantom taxied from the McDonnell Aircraft Company ramp and made its initial flight from the runway at Lambert Airport in January 1945. On Feb. 10, 1993, some 48 years after that flight, MDA marked the delivery of its 10,000th jet aircraft produced at its St. Louis plant. The theme chosen to mark the milestone, “10,000 Jets For Freedom,” reflects the company’s contribution to the ongoing cause of securing peace through strength around the world.”
